While studying economics as an undergraduate, Jeremias Huber took interest in the financial markets because they play an important role in contributing to the development and efficiency of an economy. As his interest grew, Huber decided to pursue an academic career by obtaining his PhD at Columbia Business School.

“CBS offers a rigorous academic environment that is coupled with the real world. I was – and still am – fascinated by the research conducted by faculty here and the impact it has in academia as well as in business and policy,” says Huber.

Having just completed his first year, Huber is exploring different areas of finance. His research interests currently center on asset pricing, macro-finance, and various topics on economic theory. “Seminars, courses as well as conversations with faculty have sharpened my understanding of the state of the science and where potential areas of promising future research lie. As research thrives through active debate, the engaging events at CBS have made for a great academic experience.”

With a PhD from CBS, Huber aspires to produce impactful research within finance. "I can’t imagine a better way than the PhD to acquire the tools necessary for this journey."
